A month after announcing she is having baby number two, model-actress Xenia Chong sadly announced that she had to terminate her pregnancy.
On 29 June, the “Ladies Market” actress posted a photo of her in her hospital gown, and wrote, “First of all, I would like to thank all friends who cheered for us. I also want to say sorry to all friends who care about me. Because of how sad I was, I could not reply to you one by one.”
Xenia then went on to explain that her baby was diagnosed with Patau syndrome, a serious rare genetic disorder caused by having an additional copy of chromosome 13 in some or all of the body’s cells, according to NHS UK. This disrupts the baby’s normal development and would cause multiple and complex organ defects.
She also said that she had to terminate the pregnancy before the 20th week.
“Although we were only fated to have only four months together, I still felt the happiness of having a daughter. Thank you for your presence, for teaching to learn about the impermanence of life. Mum will always love you,” she added.
It was back on 30 May that she announced her pregnancy, saying, “I hope everything is fine. Please pray so that the baby can be born smoothly and healthily.”
