It was recently revealed that singer-songwriter IU has been named the latest global ambassador for the Italian fashion house Gucci.
Although the brand has not made any official statement regarding her appointment, on 30 May, it indirectly confirmed it by posting a photo of the “Hotel De Luna” actress at the Cannes Film Festival.
The caption read, “Global Brand Ambassador IU was captured at the 75th Annual Cannes Film Festival wearing a Gucci gown with lace rebrodé petal details on the cuffs, as well as sequin flowers and crystal embellishments on the skirt.”
IU was at the festival to promote her movie, “Broker”, directed by Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda.
It is noted that IU is the Korean ambassador for the Gucci brand since 2020, but that this is the first time she was referred to as their global ambassador.
Aside from IU, other Korean stars who represent the brand include “Squid Game” star Lee Jung-Jae and K-pop idol Kai from EXO.
