Cristine Reyes recently admitted that portraying a younger version of Senator Imee Marcos in the new movie about the Marcos family is truly a challenge.
The actress, who is one of the stars of the new Viva film, “Maid in Malacanang”, shared that she couldn’t help but feel pressured by the responsibility, seeing that it was a movie not like any other.
“This is not just another film. It’s history. It’s part of the Philippines, so I really wanted to make sure it will be great,” she said.
As for her preparation for the role, Cristine stated that she observed the senator’s movements and manner of speaking, gestures, including the way she rolls her eyes.
“I was really observant of her when I met her, because she is the one I am playing. It was very challenging,” she added.
It is noted that the new movie, to be released in July, revolves around the Marcos family on their last three days in the Malacanang Palace before fleeing to Hawaii during the 1986 People Power Revolution.
On the other hand, Senator Imee Marcos herself stated that the movie will uncover the truths that needed to be told about her family.
“All I can say is, it is time for us to tell the story of what happened in Malacanang, what we know,” she added.
