TVB has recently denied rumours that its Chief Creative Officer Wong Cho Lam has resigned from his post.

As reported on Mingpao, amid reports that the actor has left the company, TVB released a statement on 10 April, which read, “The company has noticed the recent rumours about “Mr. Wong Cho Lam’s departure”, and now solemnly declares that the relevant speculation is not true.”

“Promoting the development in mainland is one of the company’s important strategies. The company has regularly dispatched teams familiar with the Chinese market to expand and execute business in the mainland, and Mr. Wong is currently producing a number of programs for the company in the mainland.”

It is noted that rumours about Wong’s resignation came amid reports that he butts heads with other TVB executives over Linda Chung’s Best Actress snub at the 2021 TVB Anniversary Awards.

It was further fuelled by subsequent news that he had brought Vincent Wong, Samantha Ko, and several other TVB actors to mainland China.

Wong was hired to be the Chief Creative Officer of TVB early last year to help the new TVB General Manager Eric Tsang revamp entertainment programmes for the broadcaster.
