While Season One star Regé-Jean Page disappointed fans after withdrawing from the “Bridgerton” universe, Simone Ashley recently revealed that that will not happen to her and Jonathan Bailey, the stars of Season 2 of the hit Netflix Regency romance series.
The actress, who plays the role of Kate Sharma in the adaptation of Julia Quinn’s second Bridgerton book “The Viscount Who Loved Me”, shared the good news during an interview, saying that she and Bailey are definitely returning for Season 3 – which is good news to Kanthony fans out there.
“Kate and Anthony are just getting started,” she said. “[We] have the amazing Jess Brownell who is taking the lead as showrunner in Season 3. In Season 2, there was a lot of push and pull between Kate and Anthony, there were complications with the family, and then they find each other towards the end. I think everything is just starting.”
“I’d like to see Kate just let go a bit more and play more in Season 3 and kind of swim in that circle of love together. I think they both deserve it,” she added.
It is noted that Netflix has already renewed “Bridgerton” until the fourth season, and there are still five more Bridgerton siblings whose stories are yet to be told.
The third story in Quinn’s “Bridgerton” saga is “An Offer from a Gentleman”, which revolves around the romance of the second Bridgerton sibling, Benedict. However, with producer Shonda Rhimes previously saying that they might not follow the order of the books and the highlight on Penelope Featherington’s character and her secret love for Colin Bridgerton (characters played by Nicola Coughlan and Luke Thompson) in the last episode of the season, many are speculating that the third season will revolve around the two, based on the fourth book, “Romancing Mister Bridgerton”.
