Although she is now a legitimate filmmaker, Bela Padilla recently stressed that she is first and foremost an actress.
As reported on ABS-CBN, the actress, who came home to Manila to promote her directorial debut, “366” recently, stated that acting will always be her main profession, no matter if she is also known as a scriptwriter and, now, a director.
“[Acting’s] what I love and know how to do. Writing is coincidental. I didn’t plan it or I didn’t think I was going to be a writer in the film industry. I’ve always love reading stories when I was still young. I didn’t think I would get to this scale, writing for feature films,” she said.
Bela also stated that the opportunity to direct a movie also comes from the fact that she was able to write a screenplay, adding that the opportunities that came to her were all incidental.
“At the end of the day, I might have come full circle only because I put myself out there,” she said. “There are more hats to wear. There are more hats to try on because I really love what I’m doing,” she added.
