“Bridgerton” is not only known for its almost scandalous storylines and not-so period-correct costumes, as many fans would know, but also for its classical take on pop music – from the string quartet’s version of Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” to the classical piano rendition of Celeste’s “Strange”.

And now it looks like fans of Bollywood will be able to hear a similar composition in the second season of “Bridgerton”, as it was revealed that there will be an orchestra cover of the title track from Karan Johar’s “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham”.

Will they play that song in this scene?

The cover has been composed by Kris Bowers, who also previously did the same with Celeste’s “Strange” – which was made the theme for Daphne Bridgerton’s first night with Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings.

The original song, which was part of the 2001 hit Bollywood movie starring Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, and Kajol, was composed by Jatin-Lalit, and performed by the late Indian songbird, Lata Mangeshkar.

No information has been revealed as to what the upcoming cover will be for, though it is quite interesting seeing that the leading lady for the second season is the British-Indian actress Simone Ashley, who plays Kate Sharma to Jonathan Bailey’s Anthony Bridgerton.

Speaking about the covers, showrunner Chris Van Dusen stated that there is “a method to the madness”.

“I chose all of these songs for very specific reasons. Each one is incredibly powerful and deeply emotional in its own special way. I always try many different songs for any one scene before landing on the perfect one to use. This season, I couldn’t be more thrilled about our musical playlist,” he said.

On the other hand, other popular songs that will receive the same treatment this season include Nirvana’s “Stay Away”, Madonna’s “Material Girl”, Rihanna’s “Diamonds”, and Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know”.
