Bollywood producer Nikhil Dwivedi has recently confirmed that he will be producing a biopic on the life of the late superstar, Rajesh Khanna.
The actor-producer, known for films like “Veere Di Wedding” and “Dabangg 3”, shared the good news on the eve of the late actor’s 79th birthday, saying that he has acquired the rights to Gautam Chintamani’s book, “Dark Star: The Loneliness of Being Rajesh Khanna”.
“I’m in talks with Farah Khan to make the film. That’s all I can say for now. As and when any major development happens, I’ll be happy to share because I’m really very excited about bringing Rajesh Khanna’s story to the big screen,” said Nikhil.
On the other hand, Farah admitted that she is very fascinated by the book, adding, “We are in a conversation over this but I cannot comment more.”
Rajesh Khanna made his acting debut in 1966 with “Aakhri Khat”, which became India’s first official Oscar entry. He went on to film a huge number of movies, and even starred in 15 consecutive solo films from 1969 to 1971, which included hits like “Kati Patang” “Haathi Mere Saathi”, “Safar”, and a special appearance in “Andaz”.
The actor, who married actress Dimple Kapadia from 1973 to 1982, passed away in July 2012 from cancer, leaving daughters Twinkle and Rinke Khanna. He was 69.
