Malaysia’s representative at the Miss Grand International, Lishalliny Kanaran has made us all proud by wining Best National Costume.
The 24-year-old beauty queen walked the stage of the finals at DC Hall in Bangkok in an elaborate and extravagant costume, which features seven mannequins draped in blue.
It is said that the whole thing weighed about 50kg. But you will not see it in her face though, as Lishalliny proudly strutted with her seven gals in tow looking breezy and beautiful.
Sharing about the said costume on social media prior to the competition, Lishalliny stated that the costume, called The 7 Ancient Princesses of Ulek Mayang, is inspired by the old folk song and dance from Terengganu about a sea princess who falls in love with a fisherman – with the beauty queen herself dressed as the bomoh who saved the fisherman’s soul.
It was designed by local bridal boutique Aldrin’s Artistry.
Although Lishalliny didn’t end up winning the crown (that went to Vietnam’s Tien Thuc Thuy Nguyen), she is honoured to win Best National Costume and representing Malaysia at the event.
Well done, Lishalliny!
