Karan Johar is not amused that people have been calling his home a “hotspot” for COVID-19.
On 15 December, the Bollywood filmmaker released a statement on Instagram Story to address the issue, following reports that Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Maheep Kapoor and Seema Khan who attended a gathering at his home have been tested positive for the coronavirus.
“My family and I and everyone at home have done their RTPCR tests and with the grace of god we are all negative! In fact, I tested twice just to be safe and am negative. I truly appreciate the grandest efforts of the BMC to ensure the safety of our city. Salute to them,” he wrote.
He also denied that the recent event at his house was a party, as it was previously reported, saying that it was just an intimate group of eight people who maintained strict protocols.
“All of us are responsible and masked at all times and no one would treat this pandemic lightly. My request to certain members of the media is to exercise some restraint in their extreme reportage without the assessment of facts! Lots of love and safety to all,” he added.
Earlier, Kareena’s rep stated that the actress might have contracted the disease during one of the gatherings she attended, which was also attended by another guest who didn’t seem well. The rep made no mention as to which event it was.
