Antoinette Jadaone’s “Fan Girl” has nabbed nine nominations at the upcoming 69th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards (FAMAS).
The movie – which had big wins at the 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival and The Entertainment Editors’ Choice (2021) – has been nominated in categories such as Best Picture and Best Director for the aforementioned filmmaker, as well as Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Production, and Best Sound.
At the same time, its two lead actors Paulo Avelino and Charlie Dizon are also nominated in the Best Actor and Actress category.
The movie, which revolves around an obsessed teenage girl who is deeply infatuated with her celebrity idol, premiered at the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival. The film is now streaming on Netflix.
On the other hand, three movies, “Magikland”, “On Vodka, Beers, and Regrets” and “Watch List”, each got 11 nods.
