Although it was to no one’s surprise that she won, Charo Santos-Concio is still elated to grab the Best Actress at the Metro Manila Film Festival.
On 27 December, the actress, who couldn’t attend the Gabi ng Parangal (Awards Night) to accept her accolade for her performance in “Whether the Weather is Fine”, took to social media to express her happiness, saying, “This is a very pleasant surprise in a challenging year where I have been in a roller coaster of emotions.”
“I want to share my award to my director,[Carlo Manatad], to the producers, [Joji Alonso], to the staff and crew, congratulations to all of us! Of course, to my dear co-stars, [Daniel Padilla] and [Rans Rifol]. Congratulations for the Special Jury Prize and Best Supporting Actress Awards!! I am extremely proud of the both of you! This wouldn’t be possible if not for the teamwork, dedication and excellence of the entire team.”
After thanking her husband Cesar as well as her family, Charo then dedicated her win to the people of Tacloban and the victims of Typhoon Odette.
“I had the privilege to share your story around the world in my own little way. I also hope that this will be an inspiration to our countrymen who were affected by typhoon “Odette”. May I also take this opportunity in encouraging everyone to help our families in need. Please help us to rise up,” she added.
“Whether the Weather is Fine” won seven accolades at the event, including 2nd Best Picture and the Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award.
