BTS made history yet again, after they were named Artist of the Year at the 2021 American Music Awards (AMA) – becoming the first Asian act to do so.

The seven-member K-pop bested worthy contenders Ariana Grande, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd to win the said category at the event that was held on 21 November.

“Four years ago, we gave our first-ever live performance on the AMAS. We were too excited and nervous at the time. It’s been a long ride since then, but nobody could have ever bet on the odds of us standing here receiving this award, except y’all, ARMY,” RM said during the group’s acceptance speech. “Seven boys from Korea, united by love for music, met the love and support from all the Armies all over the world. This whole thing is a miracle, seriously. We never take this for granted. Thank you so much, we love y’all.”

Aside from the said award, BTS also won Favourite Pop Duo/Group category, the third consecutive time the group won the said award; as well as Favourite Pop Song with their song “Butter”.

On the other hand, BTS will be holding a concert in Los Angeles on 27 November, and two more on 1 and 2 December.
