Fala Chen recently hinted that there could be more to her “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” character, despite her fate in the movie and her small screen time.
The actress, who plays Ying Li, the mother of Shang-Chi and wife of the villainous Wenwu (played by Tony Leung), hinted that her character, who spent her entire life in Ta Lo, has a larger place within the MCU.
“I wish I could tell you more about it, but I don’t think I’m allowed to… but what I can tell you is that she definitely is from Ta Lo, and she’s spent her entire life in Ta Lo prior to meeting Wenwu, and she is a fierce warrior, the protector of the village and the realm. I cannot tell you too much about it,” she said.
“But she’s also special. She’s a fierce fighter. And you got a glimpse of that, but I think she has more power than what you’ve seen so far. That’s all I can say.”
It is noted that in the movie, Wenwu reveals to his son that he believes that Shang-Chi’s mother Ying Li is still alive and being held captive in the ancient city of Ta Lo that she used to protect.
With a strong possibility of a sequel, Fala may return to the MCU in one way or another.
