The Charo Santos-Concio-starrer, “Whether the Weather is Fine” has recently won at the Locarno Film Festival.
The news was shared on the official Facebook page of the said movie on 15 August, which read, “We have great news from Switzerland! “Kun Maupay Man It Panahon” (Whether The Weather Is Fine) bags the Cinema e Gioventù Prize from the Concorso Cineasti del presente Junior Jury at the 74th Locarno Film Festival.”
“From the bottom of our hearts, grazie mille!” it added.
Helmed by award winning director Carlo Francisco Manatad, and co-starring Daniel Padilla, the movie tells the story of a mother and son who struggle for survival during the onslaught and the aftermath of supertyphoon Yolanda.
It is said that the film is based on the director’s own experiences.
Charo Santos-Concio also posted about the movie’s victory, congratulating Manatad for the win in her post that read, “Congratulations Direk @carlomanatad for bagging the Cinema e Gioventù Prize from the Concorso Cineasti del presente Junior Jury at the 74th Locarno Fil Festival. I know how much you worked hard for this dream project of yours and here you are making us all proud.”
On the other hand, the movie is also set to make its North American premiere via the Toronto International Film Festival.
