Following his official arrest over suspicion of rape, it was revealed that millions of videos involving Kris Wu have now been removed by Chinese video platforms.
As reported on Mingpao, online platforms such as Youku, Tencent, and iQiyi have now deleted all content concerning the former EXO member, with as much as 1.9 million short videos and 7,000 videos of entertainment programmes related to the singer.
This comes after Weibo announced that it has banned Kris’ personal and studio accounts.
The China Netcasting Services Association (CNSA) also released a statement saying that it is supporting the decision of its members to remove any content concerning Kris Wu – stressing that it will never provide platforms for unethical people.
The decision was met with mixed reactions. While some supported the action, others stated that it is unfair to other celebrities and productions to have their work being taken down because of one person, and that editing the actor out from those programmes would have sufficed.
