Two weeks after she was announced the winner of the Rising Star Award at the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF), Janine Gutierrez finally gets to hold her award in her hands.
The actress, who posted several photos of the said award on Instagram recently, couldn’t help but expressed elation for the said honour, after winning it for her performance in “Dito at Doon”.
“This award is especially for everyone who has supported Filipino films despite cinemas being closed for a year and a half now,” she expressed. “Not easy but here you are. To those who buy tickets online, support streaming sites and make time for virtual premieres – thank you. Thank you for supporting the industry and everyone who works in it. You mean everything to us. Thank you for coming with us on this journey.”
Janine also expressed her delight that the upcoming film will be releasing on Netflix worldwide on 2 September.
Set during the pandemic, “Dito at Doon” stars Janine as Len, a woman who, despite living alone in the lockdown, manages to meet delivery boy Cabs (JC Santos) online through common friends.
