Although he has no qualms having his children join showbiz, Donnie Yen stated that he will let them make their own choices somewhere down the line.
In an interview with Mingpao recently, the “Raging Fire” star stated that his 17 year-old daughter Jasmine is quite talented – though in music, instead of acting – and is able to dance, sing, and play the piano.
“As soon as she is on stage, she has a natural presence to her,” he said.
As for son James, Donnie stated that he has tried to teach his youngest kung fu, but that 14 year-old James has fewer and fewer practices and doesn’t seem interested in it.
“He plays the piano and beat me to it. I hope they finish their studies first and then choose their own paths in the future, depending on their fate,” he said.
At the same time, the actor stated that he would not shy away from explaining the difficulties of making movies to them, so that they will know what they are getting into if they were to choose the film industry.
Donnie’s new movie “Raging Fire” is in theatres since 30 July, while the actor himself is currently shooting “John Wick 4”.
