Steven Ma recently confirmed that he has indeed accepted a job as the Creative Director on Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK).
As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who spoke about his appointment recently, stated that his main task is to conceive different types of programmes for RTHK TV 31, which is why he agreed to do the job in the first place.
“I have stated that I don’t know how to do current affairs and political programmes, and I am not interested. My greatest interest is to do programmes related to social welfares, information, culture, education, and music,” he said.
Steven also stressed that he is not replacing Brian Chow, the assistant director of broadcasting that has recently resigned, saying that his work with RTHK is still part-time.
“The contract will be renewed annually. Whether my suggestions will be implemented will be decided by RTHK. But I have talked to a group of senior leaders and they are very open. I don’t think there will be constraints in producing a show,” he said.
Asked if he is worried about being compared with TVB’s new Chief Creative Officer, Wong Cho Lam, Steven stated that the two of them have very different jobs.
