Following his deal with Netflix, Stephen Chow is set to collaborate with another streaming giant, the mainland-based Tencent Video.
As reported on HK01, in a press conference held recently, Tencent Video announced a strategic cooperation plan with the comedy auteur, with the latter to produce several projects for the platform.
Stephen, who has not been seen since his appearance at good friend Ng Man Tat’s funeral in early March, even recorded a video greeting, which was played at the press conference, expressing his elation at the collaboration between the two parties.
“I hope that through this new platform, I will be able to bring all of you more good works. Let’s cheer together!” he said.
At present, Tencent Video has not disclosed specific type of movies or dramas nor any exact dates for these Stephen Chow projects.
In late May, it was reported that Stephen will be the executive producer of the animated feature, “The Monkey King” for Netflix, which is due out in 2023.
Inspired by the classic Chinese tale of “Journey to the West”, the upcoming project will feature the voice talents of Jimmy O. Yang, Bowen Yang, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Jo Koy, and Stephanie Hsu among others.
