Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have recently welcomed their second child.
The news was announced in a statement released by the couple’s spokesperson, which read, “It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world. Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA.”
“The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family,” the statement added.
It was noted that Lili is named after both her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth, and for her late grandmother, Princess Diana. Lilibet is the Queen’s childhood nickname used by her family.
On the other hand, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson released a statement on Sunday to address Lili’s birth on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince William and Kate Middleton, stating, “The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
The couple are already parents to two year-old Archie.
