Nicole Scherzinger recently expressed elation to be voicing a character in the upcoming Netflix original anime series, “Trese”.
The American singer, who is part Filipino from her father’s side, shared the good news on social media, writing, “So excited to announce that I’ll be joining my girl [Shay Mitchell] and an incredible cast of other Filipinos as part of ‘Trese’- a [Netflix] original anime series coming June 11th.”
“I’m so proud to be a part of such a diverse project which brings visibility to beautiful stories, talent and voices from our Pinoy culture! Happy AAPI month everyone!” she added. It is noted that “Trese” is adapted from the Filipino graphic novel of the same name, with half-Filipino Canadian actress Shay Mitchell to voice the titular character Alexandra Trese. Other cast members include Darren Criss, Jon Jon Briones, Manny Jacinto, Lou Diamond Phillips and Dante Basco.
Meanwhile, Liza Soberano will be voicing the same character in the Filipino version.
Created by writer Budjette Tan and artist Kajo Baldisimo, the horror/crime graphic novel is set in Manila where creatures from the Philippine folklore live amongst humans, and follows the story of Alexandra Trese – an investigator who deals with crimes of the supernatural origin.
