There is going to be a live-action “Powerpuff Girls” movie, and it looks like our beloved Dr Turk is going to play the man himself, Professor Drake Utonium.
Donald Faison, most known for his role as Dr. Chris Turk in the medical comedy drama, “Scrubs”, confirmed his joining the said project, which is currently in development at The CW, posting on social media, “I tried so hard not to FLEX but I can’t help it. I’m so excited!”
It was previously revealed that Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron, and Yana Perrault have already been cast in the roles of the titular characters – Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, respectively.
The character Professor Utonium in the cartoon version is described as a quirky scientist who prides himself for the three supergirls he accidentally created in his lab and loved as his own children. However, the live-action movie will revolve around the character as a man struggling with mid-life crisis and determining to repair his relationship with his now adult daughters.
The upcoming live-action project is written by Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody – the latter known for her words like “Juno” and “Jennifer’s Body”. Maggie Kiley will direct and executive produce the pilot.
