Following Evan Rachel Wood’s accusations against her former partner Marilyn Manson, Rose McGowan recently came forward to express her support for the said actress.
McGowan, who was engaged to Manson for two years prior to their split in 2001, stated on Twitter on 1 February that she was proud of Wood – as well as Manson’s four other accusers – for coming out with their stories.
“I stand with Evan Rachel Wood and other brave women who have come forward. It takes years to recover from abuse and I send them strength on their journey to recovery. Let the truth be revealed. Let the healing begin,” she wrote.

McGowan admitted that Manson was not like that when the two of them were together, though she stressed that their past relationship has no bearing on “whether he was like that with others before or after”.
Back in 2017, McGowan was one of the few who sparked the #MeToo movement when she came forward with allegations that she was raped by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. She was named Time’s Person of the Year 2017 for speaking out about sexual assault.
Wood opened up about her previous relationship with Manson on Instagram back on 1 February, saying that the singer, whose real name is Brian Warner, started grooming her when she was a teenager and abused her for years.
“I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent,” she wrote.
Wood was only 19 in 2007 when she started dating Manson, who was 38 at the time. They got engaged in 2010, but ended their relationship a few months later.
Manson has since denied the allegations, saying, “Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how – and why – others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth.”
