17 new releases that span titles across the most popular genres right now are set to be launched on the official website and mobile application of China’s internet video streaming service, iQIYI International (iQIYI).
Among these releases are Malaysia’s own acclaimed films, “Ola Bola” and “Adiwiraku”.
The two films are part of the four new releases that are exclusive to Malaysia, with the other two titles being “Pengantin Malam” and “Anak Merdeka”.
As of now, only “Pengantin Malam” is already available for streaming. Both “Ola Bola” and “Adiwiraku” will be available starting from 10 September, while patriotic mini drama “Anak Merdeka” will launch a day later on 11 September.
“We are thankful for the support we have received from our viewers in Malaysia since our international app was made available in late 2019, and are excited for these popular releases to be launched on our iQIYI platform,” said Dinesh Ratnam, iQIYI’s Country Manager for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, in a press statement.
“We’ve had enormous success recently with the launch of our very first collection of Malaysian titles at the end of July and hope to continue that success with more local releases this September.
“This selection of local titles complements the rest our pan-Asian content that span diverse genres to appeal to our viewers’ varied interests. We hope that they grow to be as well-loved and timeless as our other releases, and bring everyone entertainment and delight especially during the slightly more restrictive RMCO period.”
Aside from local content, iQIYI also provides Malaysian viewers with Chinese reality shows and dramas, such as “The Rap of China” and “Dance of the Sky Empire”, as well as Korean dramas that include “Backstreet Rookie” and “More than Friends”.
iQIYI can be accessed by viewers either free of charge or with a small fee. The free content consists of older titles that are available on iQIYI’s website at iQ.com or on the platform’s free mobile application.
However, viewers looking for fresh, exclusive content can pick from two VIP accounts to subscribe to, either the standard VIP account at RM8.90 or the premium VIP account at RM16.90.
