Hong Kong actors Wong Yi Hing and Chapman To recently took to social media to blast attorney-turned-insurance agent Joseph “Joe” Lam for using the death of Hollywood actor Chadwick Boseman to sell his insurance.
As reported on Mingpao, Wong posted an image of Joe and a screenshot of his post online, saying that even viral marketing should have a bottom line, which is to respect the dead.
“I am not okay for others to use the misfortune of others!… You say you admire British culture, even if you don’t know the basic etiquette… shouldn’t you understand the concept of sympathy?”
Wong added that while Joseph is a graduate of a great college and has read a lot of books, it doesn’t mean that he is always right, adding that the man is nothing more than an attention seeker.
As for Chapman, the actor stated that it was ridiculous for Joe to be using the actor’s death to sell his insurance. He then joked about the attorney’s love for suits, saying that it would be better to leave the house in a shirt than using money from such a marketing tactic to buy expensive suits.
“Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman passed away on 29 August after a four-year battle with colon cancer. He was 43.
