The Kuala Lumpur season of “Matilda the Musical” was originally set to be held at Istana Budaya from early next month.
However, due to the current global pandemic, the musical has been rescheduled to next year.
Instead of running from 2 to 14 June 2020, it will now be held from 9 to 21 March 2021.
Patrons who have already purchased their tickets for next month’s show are advised to hold on to the tickets. All affected patrons will be notified via email and will be given the following options:
1. Retain their existing ticket and have it rebooked to one of the rescheduled dates of their preference, OR
2. Request for a refund (subject to terms and conditions).
The postponement was announced by Tremendous Entertainment and GWB Entertainment along with the Royal Shakespeare company in a press statement, which reveals that the decision was made in light of health and safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak worldwide.
It also states that strict travel restrictions put in place due to the outbreak has also directly impacted the planned logistical arrangements and touring schedule of the travelling production.
Kuala Lumpur was supposed to be the fourth stop in the London West End musical’s Asian tour, following stops in Singapore, China and Bangkok.
