Gareth Fernandez releases Gospel-inspired ballad, "Achilles", achilles, gareth fernandez, music, theHive.Asia

Singapore’s very own pop artist Gareth Fernandez is back with a new single!

If the name sounds familiar, you might have caught him at one of the many music events, like; Timbre’s Singapore Originals, Mosaic Music Festival, Razer’s Art of Sound and Music Matters Live.

The 29-year-old who has been making waves in the scene since 2014 and who just recently appeared on the cover of Spotify’s New Music Friday Singapore, has delivered “Achilles” to the masses; a glorious Gospel-inspired ballad.

Citing artists like Sam Smith, Bruno Mars and Miguel as his influences, “Achilles” is about acknowledging and owning one’s flaws in order to grow. It’s a love letter to the self, where glaring imperfections are not just accepted, but celebrated.

“This song had a difficult birth, because I wanted perfection, or rather as close to perfection as I could go. Every sound, every artistic and sonic decision was carefully weighed and thought through. Also, the team and I are also very proud of the choir, which took a lot of effort to get just right. I hope that everybody enjoys listening to this song as much as I had fun creating it.”

‘Achilles’ is available on  Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
