Former Liverpool and Manchester United star turned football pundit, Michael Owen was in town once again and recalled some of his fondest memories in Kuala Lumpur.

Having made his first trip to Malaysia back in 1997 for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, the footballer who turns 40 this year has been back quite a number of times since.

“I was really young and in my twenties when I first came to Malaysia for a football match, and of course, some of things I always recall the most about the country is its friendly people and the delicious food.”

“This is the first time I’ve been able to interact with the local fans and I can already tell that Malaysians are extremely passionate about football.”

Owen who was in town for a surprise appearance to commemorate confectionery brand Cadbury’s partnership with the English Premiere League for its second season now, attended a public viewing event of the Liverpool vs Everton match at The Square, Publika.

Over 300 fans of Cadbury and the Premier League who attended the viewing event were treated to meet and greet sessions and one-on-one football activities with Owen.

It’s high tension times for Owen and fans during the Liverpool and Everton match. 

Cadbury also announced that it will be conducting its Cadbury FC contest again.

This time 10 winners and their friends will stand a chance to win Corporate Hospitality tickets and an all-expense paid trip to the United Kingdom to watch a Premier League match of their choice.

The contest runs from 1 March and will culminate on 31 May 2019.

Steps to submit an entry is as follows:

1. Purchase any Cadbury product worth any amount from any store nationwide

On his prediction on who will win the English Premier League this season, Owen has his bet on his former team that’s close to his heart, Liverpool, despite the team having drawn with Everton last Sunday with a 0-0 score.
