The Disney+ series starring The Vision and Scarlet Witch is moving forward with “Black Widow” scribe Jac Schaeffer tapped to pen the script.
Schaeffer is also the series’ showrunner, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Not much is known about “The Vision and Scarlet Witch” at the moment. As is Marvel Studios’ norm, the plot is kept under tight wrap.
Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen, who play The Vision and Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in the movie adaptations that include last year’s “Avengers: Infinity War” and 2015’s “The Avengers: Age of Ultron”, are expected to reprise their roles for the series.
The two characters first appeared as leads together in the limited comic series bearing their names released by Marvel Comics in 1982. Another volume of “The Vision and Scarlet Witch” comic series was released in 1985.
A series starring Winter Soldier and Falcon is also in the works with “Empire” writer Malcolm Spellman. |
The upcoming series is just one of the series Marvel is developing for Disney+, other series that will debut on the streaming service include one that will focus on Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston in the movie versions, and one focusing on Falcon and Winter Soldier, played in the movies by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, respectively.
Apart from “The Vision and Scarlet Witch” and the Scarlett Johansson-starring “Black Widow”, Schaeffer is also one of the writers for “Captain Marvel”, the Brie Larson-led movie that is coming to cinemas this March.
As for Bettany and Olsen’s big screen portrayal of The Vision and Scarlet Witch, both will be seen again in “Avengers: Endgame”, which starts playing in cinemas this May.
